Outreach

Our department is committed to supporting science teaching in primary schools. At St. Anselm’s Catholic School we have a number of science specialists who are happy to visit students in other schools or welcome students in to our school to use one of our science labs. If you would like to discuss this further or would like more information, please email our Outreach Co-ordinator, Mrs. Allen at e.allen@st-anselms.org.uk.

We are constantly recruiting students to join our Outreach & Enrichment Team. If you are currently studying at St. Anselm's in Year 8 or 9 and would like to apply for the role of 'Science Outreach Ambassador' or in Year 12 and would like to apply for the role of 'Science Enrichment Leader', please come and see Mr. Norton, Mrs. Allen or Miss. Hunt for an application form. Below you will find an electronic copy of this application form which you can print off, along with the job description for both roles.

We offer support for non-specialist primary teachers in the form of training in aspects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics from our subject specialist teachers. If you would like to discuss this further or would like more information, please email our Outreach Co-ordinator, Mrs. Allen at e.allen@st-anselms.org.uk.

We can also provide advice on equipment and supplies, especially if you are thinking of buying some new science kit or chemicals. If you would like to discuss this further or would like more information, please email our Senior Technician, Mrs. Palmer at s.palmer@st-anselms.org.uk.

Finally, if you would like to participate in our annual St. Anselm’s Science Challenge which this year will be taking place on Friday 24th February 2017, please email our Outreach Co-ordinator, Mrs. Allen at e.allen@st-anselms.org.uk. This competition involves teams of four Year 5 pupils using a range of forensic and general science methods to solve a mystery before presenting their findings at a special awards ceremony at the end of the day. The winning team will be presented with the challenge trophy.
