The option to study BTEC Level 2 in Digital Information Technology or GCSE (9-1) Computer Science is available to pupils. These courses provide pupils with a great understanding in a range of different software packages.

BTEC Level 2 in Digital Information Technology

 

Students who wish to pursue a Level 2 BTEC in Digital Information Technology will be required to explore three units of work over the 3 years. This will include two internally assessed pieces of coursework and an externally assessed examination. 

The structure of the course can be found below:

 

During Component 1, students will:
Explore user interface design and development principles
Investigate how to use project planning techniques to manage a digital project
Discover how to develop and review a digital user interface.

During Component 2, students will:

Explore how data impacts on individuals and organisations
Draw conclusions and make recommendations on data intelligence
Develop a dashboard using data manipulation tools.

During Component 3, your students will:

Explore how modern information technology is evolving
Consider legal and ethical issues in data and information sharing
Understand what cyber security is and how to safeguard against it.

 

EDUQAS GCSE (9-1) Computer Science

Students who wish to pursue a GCSE in Computer Science will be required to explore three units of work over the 3 years. This will include two externally assessed examinations and Software Development Programming project.

The structure of the course can be found below:

Component 1: Understanding Computer Science Written examination: 1 hour 45 minutes 62.5% of the qualification 100 marks

Component 2: Computational Thinking and Programming On-screen examination: 2 hours 37.5% of the qualification 60 marks

Component 3: Software Development Programming project: 20 hours Unweighted
