Term 4 2024-25

 

Week beginning 24/3:

 

  • Football news: Well done to the year 7 girls who made great progress in only their second ever game for some of the team.  Abi captained a very organised team and was at the heart of all St Anselm's attacking play. The girls went 2-0 up but ended up losing 5-2 to a more experienced Canterbury Academy. Poppy picked up MVP for her defensive excellence.

 

Week beginning 17/3:

 

  • Netball news: The year 9 girls went away to Queen Elizabeth Grammar for this term's netball festival and showed great resilience and attitude throughout and picked up a win against Spires Academy. Well done girls.

 

  • Rugby News: The year 7 boys had their first ever experience of contact rugby at the festival hosted by Queen Elizabeth Grammar. They lost narrowly to Abbey and Herne Bay High but scored lots of tries in the process. Jayden picking up MVP.

 

Week beginning 10/3:

 

  • Football news: The year 7 girls played away at The Whitstable School for their first ever school football fixture. The girls showed a huge improvement in the second half taking onboard the directions from half time. Daisy picking up MVP.

 

Week beginning 3/3:

 

  • Rugby news: The year 9 boys lost to a very experienced  Queen Elizabeth Grammar and battled away in a narrow defeat to The Whitstable School. James picking up man of the match.

 

  • Rugby news: The year 8 boys played out a draw and a loss in the latest rugby festival in Faversham, with Sloane showing some excellent progress and picking up MVP.

 

Term 3 2024-25

 

Week beginning 10/2:

 

  • Basketball news: The year 10 boys travelled to Barton Court Grammar and were leading by 1 point at the end of the third quarter. With limited subs, the boys ran out of steam in the fourth quarter and ended up losing 35-32 in a tightly fought game. Aaron earning MVP. 

 

Week beginning 3/2:

 

  • Basketball news: A depleted year 7 boys team played Herne Bay High in a rematch from last week. They lost the match to strong opposition but the boys have made so much progress in their first ever basketball season. Declan earning MVP.

 

Week beginning 27/1:

 

  • Basketball news: The year 7 boys basketball progression continues, drawing the 2nd quarter but losing overall to a very strong Herne Bay side. Clear improvements are being seen week to week. Leo picking up MVP.

 

  • Basketball news: The year 9 boys picked up their first win of the season with a   15 -14 win at home to Herne Bay High. Well done boys!

 

Week beginning 20/1:

 

  • Basketball news: The year 8 boys lost away to the Whitstable school in a much improved performance.

 

  • Basketball news: The year 7 boys played their first ever basketball game and lost to a more experienced Abbey school. Defensive organisation will need to be worked on for their next game.

 

  • Basketball news: The year 8 boys lost away at Barton Manor in  game Marley picked up MVP due to his impressive 3 pointers!

 

  • Basketball news: The year 10 boys lost at home, 16-22, to a Herne Bay High side who were clinical with several fast breaks down the court after misplaced passes from St Anselm's.  Noah earnt MVP due to his great rebounding under both hoops.

 

Week beginning 13/1:

 

  • Basketball news: The year 9 boys showed great teamwork and resilience in a hard fought home defeat to Barton Manor School.

 

  • Basketball news: The year 10 boys got off to a winning start beating the Abbey school away with Casey putting in a strong performance at point guard and earning MVP.

 

  • Basketball news: The year 8 boys battled to 9-9 by the end of the third quarter but lost out to Herne Bay as fatigue and poor decision making set in for the final quarter.

 

Term 1 2024-25

 

Week beginning 7/10:

 

  • Football news: The 9 boys put in their best performance of the season in a 3-3 home draw to Queen Elizabeth Grammar. David earning MVP for his top goalkeeping performance. The year 7 boys put in an equally as impressive performance winning 2-0 away to Whitstable in a very tough encounter. Henry picking up MVP.

 

  • Football news: The year 10 boys finished the season with a a 2-1 home loss to Abbey School, with numerous changes created for the home team but not enough clinical finishing. Reuben earning MVP.

 

Week beginning 30/9:

  

  • Football news: The year 7 boys lost at home to Abbey School in a very tough game where the opposition dominated throughout. Leo picking up MVP.

 

  • Football news: The year 10 boys went away to Kent College and put in their best performance to date. Despite taking a 2-1 lead through Will scoring a penalty, the team conceded an equalizer in injury time to draw the game 2-2. 

 

Week beginning 23/9:

 

  • Football news: The year 7 boys picked up their first loss of the season, 4-0 away to Simon Langton. Ed earning MVP for his resilient defensive performance. 

 

  • Netball news: The year 9 girls won at home, 13-5, to Herne Bay with a much improved performance. Sophie and Olivia earning star player. The year 10 girls also won at home to Herne Bay 15-3, with the girls putting on a great attacking performance. Star player going to Charlotte.

 

  • Football news: The year 10 boys lost 3-0 away to Whitstable with individual errors costing the team the game. The year 8 boys were at home and also lost to Whitstable.

 

Week beginning 16/9:

 

  • Netball news: The year 7 and 8 girls went away to Barton Court and despite improvement in their defending still lost in both games.

 

  • Football news: The year 11 boys played in the first round of the Kent Cup at home to St Edmunds from Dover in a Schools Trust derby. Despite going 1-0 up early on, the team lost 4-2 with 2 key injuries during the game not helping the boys. the year 7 boys kept their winning streak going with a 2-0 away win at Barton Manor. Leo earning MVP. The year 9 boys lost at home to Abbey School in a battling performance.

 

  • Netball news: The year 9 girls went to Barton Manor and lost in a very tough game, whilst the year 10 played Queen Elizabeth Grammar away and lost 18-7.

 

  • Football news: The year 10 boys scored a last minute winner from captain Harry to win 2-1 away at St Edmunds. Rueben earning MVP. The year 8 boys lost at home to a strong Abbey School team.

 

Week beginning 9/9:

 

  • Netball news: Both the year 7 and year 8 girls team came up against tough opposition in Simon Langton and lost in both games.

 

  • Football news: The year 7 boys went to Archbishops for their first ever school fixture and got a confident win.  William earning MVP.

 

  • Netball news: The year 9 girls team lost away to Barton Court and Barton Manor, and the year 10 girls team lost 10-4 to Barton Court.

 

  • Football news: A strong start to the season with the year 8 boys picking up their first win against Archbishops with a dominant performance. The year 10 boys won 5-4  against Archbishops in an end to end home game.

 

 

Term 6 2023-24

 

Week beginning 24/6:

 

  • Sports day news: Well done to all students who took part in the pre sports day field events and to those who took part in the races on sports day itself. Bosco house were overall winners for the second year in a row!

 

  • Rounders news: St Anselm's hosted the year 9 district rounders this week. The team showed great resilience against some tough opposition. Well done girls.

 

Week beginning 17/6:

 

  • Softball news: St Anselm's hosted a friendly game with the year 7 students playing against the year 8 students. The year 8 team were the eventual winners making the most of several misfields from the year 7 team.

 

Week beginning 10/6:

 

  • Softball news: The year 7 boys team took on the Abbey school and suffered an early set back going several runs behind. But a strong final innings saw them come back to narrowly win.

 

  • Rounders news: Both the year 9 and year 10 girls rounders teams travelled to Queen Elizabeth's Grammar and suffered defeat to more experienced sides. Zoe picking up MVP.

 

  • Athletics news: Well done do all the athletes from year 8, 9, and 10, who took part in the Canterbury District Athletics Tournament this week. Some excellent performances in the field events and on the track.

 

Week beginning 3/6:

 

  • Softball news: The year 9 boys beat Canterbury Academy in a 10-9 thriller after losing heavily to them earlier in the season.  Harry getting the MVP with a solid fielding performance securing lots of outs.

Term 5 2023-24

 

Week beginning 13/5:

 

  • Softball news: The year 8 boys went away to Herne Bay High and got the win in a strong performance despite their inexperience with Liam making some great catches.

 

Week beginning 6/5:

 

  • Touch Rugby News: The year 10 mixed touch rugby team travelled across to Reigate in Surrey to take part in the south east regional tournament. They play well against some tough opposition picking up a win and 2 losses.

 

Week beginning 19/4:

 

  • Softball News: The year 9 softballers suffered a heavy defeat at home to Canterbury Academy. Lots to work on ready for their next fixture.

 

  • Athletics News: The year 8 boy and girls competed well in field events against Barton Court and Archbishops. Unfortunately the track event were cancelled due to the rain. Well done to all the throwers and jumpers.

 

  • Softball News: The year 8 boys team hosted Spires Academy and made a strong come back to win 11-7 in their first fixture of the season.

 

Week beginning 15/4:

 

  • Rugby News: The year 10 boys rugby team went to Canterbury Rugby Club to play Canterbury Academy in their rescheduled fixture losing by only 4 points in a hard fought game. Well done boys.

Term 4 2023-24

 

Week beginning 25/3:

 

  • Rugby News: The year 8 boys rugby team played well in the last festival of the academic year despite fielding a depleted squad. They show great character and perseverance through the series of games.

 

  • Football News: The final game of the season for the U14 girls resulted in a loss away at Canterbury Academy. Frankie scored St Anselm's goal and Casey earning MVP.

 

Week beginning 18/3:

 

  • Trampolining News: The St Anselm's boys and girls trampolining squad went to Gillingham to compete in the Kent Schools competition and put in amazing performances all round, earning several trophies. A special mention to Harrison and Emily who both took 1st places in their categories.

 

  • Rugby News: Well done to the year 10 and 11 boys who took part in the rugby 7's tournament at Canterbury Rugby Club this week.

 

  • Football News: The U14's girls won the local derby against Langton Girls School beating their development squad 2-1 after coming from goal down at half time. Elysmarie earning MVP.

 

Week beginning 11/3:

 

  • Rugby News: The year 7 boys rugby team played a 4 team festival of rugby, beating the Abbey School and Queen Elizabeth Grammar, but losing to Canterbury Academy. River earning MVP.

 

  • Football News: The U14 girls played a tough Whitstable team and went down 4-0 in the first half. They defended much better in the 2nd half with the game finishing 5-0. Amy with the MVP for her defensive display.

 

Week beginning 4/3:

 

  • Rugby News: The year 8 boys rugby team played their first games of the season in some tough fixtures against the Whitstable School, Herne Bay High and Barton Court. Well done boys.

 

  • Rugby News: The year 7 boys rugby team put in strong performances in this week's festival beating both Queen Elizabeth Grammar teams and drawing to Canterbury Academy. Isaac picking up MVP for some great tackling technique.

 

  • Football News: The U14 girls went away to Barton Manor and put in an excellent performance in the first half taking a 4-0 lead into the break. Unfortunately the girls tired and momentum swung in favour of Barton Manor who ended up winning 7-5! Goalkeeper Charlotte with MVP.

 

Week beginning 26/2:

 

  • Rugby News: The year 10 boys rugby team went away to Faversham to play in 2 games. They beat Canterbury Academy in their first match and lost to a strong Queen Elizabeth Grammar team in their second match. Well done boys!

 

  • Football News: The U14 girls played their first training match in preparation for their games in the upcoming season.

Term 3 2023-24

 

Week beginning 5/2:

 

  • Basketball News: The year 7 boys basketball team sent a depleted squad to Herne Bay High where they lost to a more experienced team.

 

  • Alternative Sport News: Well done to the key stage 3 bench ball ladies who competed in the district tournament this week.

 

  • Basketball News: The year 10 boys team went away to Queen Elizabeth Grammar where they put on a strong display to end the season with another win. MVP goes to Oscar for his excellent attacking play.

 

  • Basketball News: The year 8 basketball team ended their season with a hard fought loss to Queen  Elizabeth Grammar.

 

Week beginning 29/1:

 

  • Basketball News: The year 9 boys team lost to a strong Spires Academy team despite a late comeback. Casey earning MVP.

 

  • Basketball News: The year 7 boys team came out on top against a spirited Spires Academy side with Kehinde as MVP.

 

  • Basketball News: The year 8 boys team lost in a hard fought game away at Barton Manor this week.

 

  • Basketball News: The year 10 basketball team went away to Spires Academy and put on their best performance of the season winning 48-26.  Nelson picking up MVP and scoring a slam dunk!

 

Week beginning 22/1:

 

  •  Basketball News: Well done to the year 9 team who made it 2 wins in a row, beating The Abbey School 19-9.  Casey and Leon picking up MVP.

 

  •  Basketball News: The year 7 boys lost narrowly to Barton Manor in a tough away fixture.

 

  •  Alternative Sport News: The key stage 3 girls travelled to Whitstable to take part in rock climbing this week. Well done girls!

 

  •  Basketball News: The year 10 boys team were victorious in a very competitive match with Whitstable making it 3 wins out of 4 this season. Max earning MVP on his debut.

 

  •  Basketball News: The year 8 boys team struggled against a strong Whitstable team in a hard fought St Anselm's loss.

 

Week beginning 15/1:

 

  •  Basketball News: The year 7 basketball team picked up their first win of the season with a home 13-9 win against the Abbey School. Marley earning MVP.

 

  • Alternative Sport News: Well done to all year 7 and 8 girls who took part in the roller skating at Herne Bay High this week.

 

  • Basketball News: Well done to the year 10 basketball team who won against Herne Bay High School and lost to Archbishops School this  week with Oscar picking up MVP for his strong defensive work in both games.

 

Week beginning 8/1:

 

  • Basketball News: The Whitstable School away was the first fixture for both the year 7 and the year 9 teams. The year 7 team lost, with Ryan as MVP. Whilst the year 9 team  held on for the win, with captain Casey gaining MVP.

 

  • Basketball News: The year 10 boys excelled in all four quarters earning a 43-26 win away against Barton Court Grammar with Sol earning MVP for his excellent performance.

 

  • Basketball News: In their first game of the season, the year 8 boys narrowly lost at home to Barton Court. 

Term 2 2023-24

 

Week beginning 11/12:

 

  • Basketball News: The U18 boys travelled to Dover to play Beech Grove school.  After conceding several early baskets, St Anselm's came back to to make the score line close but could not manage to win. Kayden with the stand out performance.

 

  • Alternative Sport News: The U13 boys tried their hand at badminton this week at Canterbury Academy competing against opponents from Herne Bay High and the Academy.

 

  • Basketball News: The U13 girls came 2nd in the Canterbury District Championships at Herne Bay High School this week with Paris earning MVP. Well done girls!

 

Week beginning 27/11:

 

  • Alternative Sport News: St Anselms's hosted the district dodgeball tournament this week. Well done to the U13 boys who represented the school for the first time.

 

  • Basketball News: The U13 girls went to Barton Manor and lost in a hard fought 24-12 game.

 

Week beginning 20/11:

 

  • Alternative Sport News: Well done to the boys roller skating team who made their way up to Herne Bay High to learn a new skill with the other schools in the district. 

 

  • Basketball News: The U18 boys basketball team took their game into overtime to win by a single point , 40-39, against a strong King's School.

 

  • Basketball News: The U13 girls went away to the Abbey School  and won 20-10. Herne Bay High also attended the fixture and lost 20-16 to St Anselm's. Well done girls.

 

Week beginning 13/11:

 

  • Alternative Sport News: Well done to the boys laser tag team who had a great time at Herne Bay High battling it out against the other schools in the district. 

 

  • Basketball News: The year 7/8 girls basketball team lost narrowly at home to Simon Langton School for Girls, 24-20, in their first game of the season.  MVP goes to Paris.

 

Week beginning 6/11:

 

  • Basketball News: The U18 basketball team played their first ever game together losing 69-38 at home to The Langton School. MVP went to Jacob who positively influenced the game at point guard

 

Term 1 2023-24

Week beginning 16/10:

 

  • Football News: The year 10 boys football team lost 2-0  in torrential rain away to Kent College with a MOTM performance from Rhys.

 

  • Football News: The year 7 boys football team won 3-2 away at The Whitstable School which completes a very successful first season at St Anselms.

 

  • Netball News: Both the year 9 and year 10 girls netball teams played well at the district tournaments held at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School. Well done girls!

 

Week beginning 9/10:

 

  • Football News: The year 7 boys football team continued their impressive form this season with a 5 -2 victory over Spires Academy away.

 

  • Football News: The year 8 boys football team went away to Barton Manor and struggled with their defensive shape in straight forward win to the opposition.

 

Week beginning 2/10:

 

  • Football News: The year 7 boys football team went away to Simon Langton and played well in a confident win over the Langton B team.

 

  • Football News: The year 9 boys football team showed great resilience to come from a goal behind to win 5 - 4 at home to The Whitstable School. Connor with the man of the match performance.

 

  • Netball News: The Year 8 girls netball team showed great shooting accuracy and attacking play in a big win away against Archbishops school.

 

  • Netball News: The the year 7 netball team won 2 - 0 away at Archbishops in a really closely contested game.

 

  • Netball News: The 6th form netball team played their opening game of the season against a very experienced Canterbury Academy team.  Well done to all girls involved.

 

  • Football News:  In the Kent Cup first round, the Year 11 boys football team battled hard against Towers School in Ashford. Two late goals resulted in a 3 - 0 loss.

 

  • Football News: Year 8 boys football team came out on top in a very open game against The Whitstable School.  Terry was man of the match in the 6-5 win.

 

Week beginning 25/9:

 

  • Football News: Year 9 boys football team came back from 2 down to draw 2-2 with The Abbey School. Both goals coming from well worked corner routines.

 

  • Football News: Year 7 boys football team win away at Barton Court 3-2. A solid goalkeeping performance from captain David helping secure an opening game win.

 

  • Netball News: Year 7 girls netball team win 2-0 at home to Abbey but lose in a tough game against Queen Elizabeths.

 

  • Netball News: Year 8 girls netball team lose against Queen Elizabeths at home.

 

  • Football News: Year 10 boys football team draw away at St Edmunds 1-1. H with the last minute equaliser.

 

  • Football News: Year 8 boys football team win at home to The Abbey School 6-3. T putting in a MOTM performance.

 

Week beginning 19/9:

 

  • Netball News: Year 7 girls netball team lose narrowly 2-0 away to Canterbury Academy with A picking up the star player award.

 

  • Netball News: Year 8 girls netball team win a hard fought game 4-3 away to Canterbury Academy with S putting in a star player performance.

 

  • Football News: Year 10 boys football team win their opening game of the season 2-0 away at Archbishops.

 

  • Football News: Year 8 boys football team start the season off with a convincing win away at Archbishops.

 

  • Netball News: Year 10 girls netball team lose their opening match of the season 11-7 away at Canterbury Academy. Well done for H for her star player performance.

 

  • Netball News: Year 9 girls netball team open the season with a hard fought loss to Canterbury Academy with C putting in a star player performance.
