Prayers for Peace in Ukraine
God of peace and justice,
we pray for the people of Ukraine
and those who stand with them today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or peace,
for wisdom, discernment and compassion
to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children,
at-risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus,
the Prince of Peace.
Amen.
A Prayer from Cafod
Loving God,
We pray for the people of Ukraine,
for all those suffering or afraid,
that you will be close to them and protect them.
We pray for world leaders,
for compassion, strength and wisdom to guide their choices.
We pray for the world that in this moment of crisis, we may reach out in solidarity to our brothers and sisters in need.
May we walk in your ways
so that peace and justice
become a reality for the people of Ukraine
and for all the world.
Amen.
A prayer from St Richards, part of our KCSP Community
Give leaders from across the world the wisdom to see beyond the boundaries of race, religion, and nation.
Grant those with political power to see the common humanity which makes us all your children.
Allow those who have taken up arms in anger or revenge to be calmed and influenced by your grace to the path of peace.
Let those, whose hearts ache with tragedy be influenced with the power of your love, to seek and follow the path of peaceful dialogue and constructive collaboration.
Give people faith to heal, repair and make good everything which has been broken by violence.
Strengthen the courage of all people tempted by the greed of conflict to turn their backs on war and embrace their neighbours.
Amen
On 25th March, Solemnity of teh Annunciation of our Lord, Pope Francis onsecrated Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, entrusting the nations to Mary’s help and protection amid the ongoing conflict. The pope has asked everyone in the world to join him.
The consecration itself took the form of a prayer that Pope Francis said around 5.30pm UK time at the penitential service in Rome.
